...many of the Open Diary occupants didn't have much/any warning before the site began to sink like a stone. We all knew it had been taking on water for quite a while, but we'd managed to keep sailing. Then, in what felt like a whiplash-inducing jerk, we were informed we had roughly two weeks to kiss our butts goodbye or make other arrangements. Thing is, many of us - including me - had no idea OD was sinking until someone else from OD passed on the information. Thus we began the scramble to save our entries (or, in my case, spend much time cursing and fretting since I'm not technologically inclined and my cat has better internet savvy than I do) before the site went dark. Without a specific date, just a "sometime in the next couple weeks," it was impossible to know how much time was left. Apparently, last night was Lights Out, not even a week after I'd gotten the heads up.
So now I rebuild. I hope to find other folks I'm familiar with coming in on other lifeboats. In theory you can be anyone you want to be on the internet; you can reinvent yourself to be a better version of you. The problem with that is that I've been me so long, all I know how to be is me. Good, bad, and everything in between, what you'll get here is me. Snarky, funny, loving, sarcastic, compassionate, snarky, redundant old me.
If you're looking for me, I'll be just over there with my blanket and hot beverage, hoping to see some familiar faces pass by.
