Welp, it’s Monday. I was not interested in getting out of bed today, but once I got to work it was fine. I forgot that most days are slow and boring and it gives me time to reflect on what is happening this week and what happened last weekend.

Last Thursday a dear dear friend of mine came over and we had delicious food, drank delicious wine, and smoked delicious cannibas. I love my home with my Novio. I finally feel the need and desire to invite my friends and loved ones into my home and give them hospitality, feed them, let them relax and enjoy each others company in the quiet and peaceful vibes. I just absolutely love this woman and having time to spend with her and my Novio over food and drink was just an absolute pleasure. Sometimes you don’t need a lot of friends, you just need a few really fantastic ones.

Friday was a rather unusually pleasant and slow day. The woman from General Assembly got back to me and we are meeting at a dive bar on Wednesday so I can network, schmooze, and drink beer. Why not network the way I feel most comfortable doing? This woman from GA though is rather unique in that i felt really comfortable asking her to get a beer with me, I’ve never done anything like that before, ask that question, but I’m excited and proud of myself for making and taking these steps in my professional and personal life. That night, Novio and I decided to stay in so we could watch Dr. Who (which I am now completely obsessed with, and I watch nothing but that show and an occasional movie now) cook together and go to bed early. That night, Friday night, felt like all the Denver travel, all the long work days that had occurred that week, and all the business that comes from being away from work just busted and exploded into a jumble of tiredness and exhaustion.

Saturday and Sunday was filled with calmness, cuddling sessions, and adventure. Saturday we woke up late, cuddling for hours, made breakfast and watched Dr. Who while we contemplated our weekend schedule. Should we go see a Bluegrass festival, watch a band on the beach, walk around a part of frisco we are unfamiliar with, or shall we test out the big open sky of Mt. Tam and watch the stars? We decided none of those options. Instead we watched the 1960’s movie, The Village of the Damned, in the old and historic theater in Castro. But of course because the movie we munched on warm cookies, drank strong cold brew, and made friends with a clown on the street giving away kids toys. The movie was fabulously old and outdated, and the popcorn was warm and buttery. The night and day was a fantastic accumulation of laziness, adventure, and date night-likeness.

Because we had decided our adventure the day before, Novio and I were prepared to wake up early, pack our lunches, and head into the car to Petaluma. About an hour and a half north of us in Sonoma county we planned a day of pumpkin patch picking and brewery tours. We had found a Groupon for a farm that sold pumpkins and with that discount we were able to buy corn stalk, pumpkins for our balcony and for the apartment, and a huge block of hay! I finally feel like I’m in the Fall spirit and I just can’t wait for Halloween and Thanksgiving to arrive! This is my favorite season!
After the pumpkin picking, which by the way, was 92 degrees out and were pumpkin picking… we ended up going to Lagunitas Brewing Company for a beer and a tour. Which was actually more fascinating than I thought it would be! Beer, like baking or wine making, is simple chemistry at its basic! Although the tour was amazing I was a little disappointed no one, besides me, had questions. Novio ensured me that I’m rather brave. Although I don’t know what brave has to do with being curious and voicing that curiosity.

And to finally conclude the amazing weekend we watched more Dr. Who and heated up some leftovers while we took in our newly decorated balcony.

I am so blessed. I am so grateful. And I just can’t wait to share all of this with my family when they come to visit!
