Deer Camp! in Ok!!!

Well it’s that time of the year again. off to the deer camp this Friday night. All the grandson’s are coming with two both of my boys. SIL can’t make it. Plan on killing a tub full of tree rats. (squirrel’s) Cook up a big feed for Sat. night. probably some hog meat and sausage. Make a sauce p quante. (kajun) One of my grandson’s a few weeks back killed a big sow hog in Tex. So will make a gravy with some of that. Lots of limb rats all around my deer camp. Fox and cat squirrel’s. Some of them aint never seen a human before. Lots of big hardwoods all around on my property. Creek runs through the middle of it. Good hunting with a squirrel dog too. Lot’s of deer. thay are a lot harder to kill though. We usually manage 2-4 every year. They have some monster bucks down in the swamp part of the area. They don’t usually walk around in the daylight until the does come in season. then they get mad at other bucks and will come see when I rattle the horns. killed a few nice ones like this. Been hunting these woods since 1958. Been sitting on the same pine stump for 35 years. Killed a many of deer from that old stump. Anywho we need to build 2 more bunks in the camp for we are expanding in members.(grands) My camp is just family. We love to build a fire and sit around it and do marshmallows and smores stuff. Have a good breakfast and lunch and a great gravy with rice. Kids like to shoot BB guns at the frogs and stuff in the creek. Have to be careful of the cotton mouths though. We have timber rattlers too.
All is well on the farm. Rabbits starting to domino with little ones. Baby Llama is growing. Heifer is pregnant and goats or too. need to sell a few ducks and geese. Butchered some Cornish game hens last Sat. About 12 or so. took a couple and made a chicken and sausage gumbo with some Okra. boy O boy dats some fine eatin. Sorry don’t give out my gumbo recipe. But if you come I will cook you one....
Last Sat. buddy and I went fishing. Caught 8 nice red fish and 4 catfish with one gas pa goo. Had a great morning fishing and weather was perfect. Need to go back..
