Couple of days of MAJOR freakout here… the insurance company has been fining me for failing their biometric exam this year and they said that you could get the money refunded if you passed a retest in September. I went and did it on Monday morning and the first thing that happened was my blood pressure was 160/90-something because I was so stressed out over the whole thing… so that was an automatic fail on that part. The guy said they check the bp three times and I asked if he could do the blood draw first and come back to the bp when I’d had ten minutes to relax, but he said no, they ‘had’ to do it three times in a row. Which is stupid and pointless because each reading will be HIGHER than the one before, and of course mine was because I was so upset I was crying… anyway, I failed that and asked them to bring John in, and then the guy took my blood for the cholesterol and sugar tests and I went away utterly miserably depressed. Anyway, the results came back today and fortunately my cholesterol is textbook perfect since they bullied me onto cholesterol medication (my numbers were very slightly raised last year and it should have been five years before I had to worry about them…) and my sugar was 92. So I got a pass even though my weight and blood pressure failed, and we’re theoretically going to get $400 back in November. I say theoretically because I don’t trust them to worm out of it… health insurance companies are all scum.

Before they make me do it again next year I’m going to have to get the doctor to sign off on my blood pressure so I don’t have to do it. It’s a test that’s IMPOSSIBLE for me to pass no matter what I do. The day before and the afternoon after my blood pressure was just over 100, which if anything is too LOW… give me enough medication to try to get a perfect test result (which is all they’ll accept) and I’d be on the floor ten minutes later. I took extra bp meds that morning and I STILL failed dramatically. So far as I’m concerned the thing is rigged… they KNOW I’m on medication - they’re the ones approving the stupid prescriptions every month. I was so stressed over this whole bullshit I couldn’t sleep, and now I’m in a ton of pain. :(
