Today was definitely not your average sort of day around our house. First of all, we all slept in until about 8:30 when usually we are up by 7 latest. This was nice in a way but it also screws up nap time a bit and makes things more complicated since Miles usually has 2 naps a day. They were both boiling hot/feverish still and Miles’ nose was just pouring fluid which was rather disgusting but he was in good spirits anyways. He crawled around making his usual disaster of the house and the only difference is sometimes he would stop now and then while crawling to put his head on the ground for a minute. And he wanted extra cuddles from Mommy which is rare. He usually mostly wants to cuddle when he can see some forbidden item he wants to grab while I’m hugging him. Sneaky little bum lol. His favorite forbidden items at the moment are cords, the TV remotes, my cell phone and our tablet. He is CONSTANTLY going for one of these. It’s enough to drive you crazy! And he is so darn quick. This morning he crawled over to the table at top speed and grabbed my cup of coffee! Luckily I saw him and grabbed it from him so he only got a few drips of it on the floor and none of it on him thank goodness since it was fresh and hot. Oh and occasionally he crawls over to the cat dish and helps himself to a snack. For some reason, while most kids would sample cat food once or twice and then not again, Miles will repeatedly go eat it like it’s actually something he enjoys. Ew! Other things he has gotten into lately include: hands in the toilet, I found him sucking on the end of a tube of lube in our bedroom which he must’ve gotten out of the drawer while I was getting my underwear on (lol), he finds random cords and pulls them, tries to get at the plugs in the wall, he tried to eat play dough this morning, oh and he has an annoying habit of wanting to crawl from one side of the couch to the other and he has fallen off of the couch a couple of times because of it. Luckily it is quite low to the ground and I caught him one of the times and the other time he didn’t fall head first. My goodness! Sometimes I feel like it’s a challenge trying to keep him alive!
Miles and Cody were pretty tired today from being sick. Miles only had one nap because he slept for 3.5 hours!! And Cody didn’t want to do much besides sit on the couch, cuddle and watch cartoons on the “weewee” (TV in Cody-speak). He also had a long nap which I had to wake him up from after 2 hours to make sure he would sleep at night. Oh and he also enjoyed picking Miles’ boogers and eating them. Yes. Unfortunately that totally happened. Boys=disgusting! He is talking more and more these days and I love each and every new word! He’s started to say “home” and understands the meaning completely. In fact, I was out the other day with them and he kept saying, “Home. Hockey. Cody” meaning he wants us to go home so he can play hockey. Today he randomly saw a Tim Horton’s commercial where they showed donuts and he started pointing and saying donut although it sounded more like “go-gut” lol. Meanwhile he had barely wanted to eat all day. My husband, the softie, bugged me to go take the poor kid and get him a donut. Oh boy! I had to go out anyways so I got him some Timbits and then right before bed he sees a Dairy Queen commercial on TV and says “ice cream” (eye-kee) haha. Good luck kid! I was trying to teach him to say “trick or treat” today because of Halloween next month but when you say 3 words in a row he tends to not want to even try to repeat them because it’s too much. So I started saying it like “Trickor treat” and then he tried. It came out more like “Tiko tee” but at least he’s trying!!
Ohhh and speaking of Cody and speech, the free place which I have been waiting to call to let me know if he can get speech therapy through the community called me last week. We have been on the waiting list for I think 5 months now, maybe 4.5. They said they want to re-assess him to see if he needs private speech therapy or can go into group speech therapy. I have no idea how group speech therapy would work but I’m thrilled that we got a call! He’s going to do so much better when he’s assessed this time compared to 5 months ago. I am interested to see what they say about his progress! And I sincerely hope he doesn’t have any more waiting lists after this since I am only taking him to his speech therapist one more time before stopping cuz it’s just too much money and he’s doing great now.
