Welcoming Hayden in Moving Forward

It has been a busy couple of months!

On October 20, 2014 (3 weeks before my due date) I had an ultrasound that estimated my baby’s weight between 9 and 10 pounds. That, and the fact that my cervical dilation had not changed in the past 3 weeks, led my doctor to suggest induction.
At 5:30am on October 21, I went to the hospital and began the process of being induced. Steven and my sister Nikki were there all day throughout my labor, and were at my side at 3:11pm when Hayden entered the world weighing 9 lbs 3/4 oz and measuring 20 1/2 inches long.
Haleigh’s first words when she met her baby brother were, “Awww! He’s so cute!”
Our first few weeks were pretty rough, with Hayden crying almost non-stop, clearly uncomfortable. He and I were both miserable, and I was unable to determine the cause of his discomfort until he was 5 weeks old when I took him to the doctor for what appeared to be blisters popping up all around his groin area. He had a STAPH INFECTION, and I was terrified. Apparently the majority of cases of staph come from the hospital, so I would assume his poor little body had been sick since birth. He is now 8 weeks old, and perfectly healthy! He is the sweetest, most beautiful, chubby cheeked little man, and our little family could not be any happier.
