Ugly in Day to Day

Wrote this on Friday, but never finished it…

So today we have to say goodbye to the legendary Joan Rivers. I think she was the funniest woman on earth. I’m going to miss her.

There seems to be a lot of ugly news out there this week. There was a beheading in North London yesterday. Met police shot dead some nutter waving a knife around yesterday in Islington. Nine-year-old twins appear to have been murdered in Ireland by their older half-brother who appears to have committed suicide. What is it, moon phases or something?

On a lighter note, it is Friday, and it’s not raining. This is going to be the first weekend in months that we don’t have to be anywhere. I’m going to spend some time on the allotment and do stuff. I have managed to source some Canadian maple veneer, man that stuff is difficult to find, and I’m intending to make my own custom skateboard deck. I’ve never tried anything like this before and it could be a disaster. The first thing I have to do is construct a mould/press arrangement. I am going to be taking pictures of this.

I need to record here some trivial stuff happening in my life:

Our ghost chilli plant is growing well and many chillies are now hanging from it and some are starting to turn red.

We bought a new vacuum cleaner because our Vax is about 20 years old and frankly I can’t be doing with sticking bits back and repairing it on each time I want to use it any more. We bought a Dyson. Incidentally, did you notice that the good old EU is banning us from buying vacuum cleaners over 1,600 Watts in a bid to save the earth. What a bunch of tossers. You can almost see them sitting round a table debating how powerful vacuum cleaners should be and then congratulating themselves afterwards about how environmentally conscious they are. Cock Wombles, £100 and my right nut says that none of them actually know what a 1,600 Watts even means.

The boy is back at school. He won a medal from the library for his reading, He’s gone up a level in his swimming class, and he’s just passed the test for his next Martial Arts belt (blue I think). Oh, and he starts hockey lessons next week, and the dragon just tested him on his Chinese and his reading and writing is coming along really well because he passed his exam.
