I had one of those days today when I should be locked up away from everyone else because I was in a VILE mood… didn’t get nearly enough sleep last night because I had evil dreams and I had to get up to chase one away - it involved tiny little alien spiders gradually taking over the world because everyone was deathly allergic to them… ugh! Then when I went back to bed I had a dream where I had to go to an office to apply for assistance and there were about 100 people lined up at the door waiting for the place to open, then they ushered us all in and rapid-fire gave us instructions that we had to sit down and fill out our paperwork but we only had thirty minutes to do it, and it was a test to see if we merited their help so it had personality questions on it and crap like that! And I was so flustered that I missed some of the instructions and I didn’t get past the first page before I ran out of time (oh, and we only had 30 minutes to do it…) Ugh… can we say nasty anxiety dream?
Anyway, I’ve felt extremely tired and snappish today… John didn’t have any calls so I stayed out of his way until lunchtime, then I asked if we could go to Duffys to use our discount card. Turned out you couldn’t use the discount card on the already-discounted lunch specials so we spent twenty five bucks on lunch because John wanted the ‘lunch special’ steak with mushrooms and onions which were extra… What’s done is done… went to the bakery to get rosemary bread and they only have it on the weekends, and tried to explain to the baker that their ‘sugar free muffins’ aren’t actually sugar-free - the girl said they used splenda so I was going to buy one, but the guy heard her and said ‘oh, no we don’t do that any more, we changed to apple juice concentrate because people don’t want chemicals in their food’… they might be no REFINED sugar, but juice is still loaded with the stuff so it’s not going to do a diabetic any good and they should really change the label for that item to warn us. I wonder if they will? Sigh… I need an early night tonight… and possibly a gag.
Oh, and I made perfect omelettes for breakfast this morning and used leftover meats in the filling… great. But while I was busy congratulating myself on my success and eating my omelette, I forgot to turn the damned stove off and I entirely melted the lifter, destroying both it and the medium-sized frypan it was sitting in. That large element gets hot enough that when I picked the lifter up to try to rescue it, it literally folded in half! John didn’t get mad at me, he never does, but I can’t get a new one until John gets paid again, two weeks from now… he just asked me to please try NOT to burn the place down… I think it’s because the stove controllers are on the front of the stove instead of on the back, so they’re low down and I just plain don’t see them half the time. I HATE HATE HATE HATE that stove! There’s only one large burner and it gets so hot that it does great indoor grilling, but it fills the kitchen with smoke, and destroys stuff in minutes if you don’t watch it with eagle-eyes (but the small burners aren’t hot enough to do much at all so you HAVE to use the big one). And of course it was the newest least-used pan I killed, not the one with the coating half worn-off already… at least I didn’t poison myself like I did last time I melted the lifter. No noticeable fumes despite the melting, and no asthma. Like I said, just one of those days…
