Journaling prompt:

What holds me in bondage? What are my addictions? How can I free myself of them? What gets too much of my time and attention? When have I been less than truthful to myself or others?

Your Bindweed Spark:

Set up a ceremonial space with altar items that are meaningful to you, including a fireproof container of some kind. This could be a bowl made of ceramic, iron, or brass. It could even be a fire pit in your backyard. Create sacred space in any way that works for you. Light a central candle — a pillar or taper is a good idea, and the color should be white.

Then consider a bad habit or negative life pattern that you are ready to release. Take a piece of paper and write down, draw, or even collage images, feelings and thoughts about that negativity and its hold on you. Take your time.

When you’re ready, hold the paper to the lit candle and place it in the fireproof bowl. Say these words: “I release you! I am done! Be gone!”

Let the paper burn to ashes. Feel the cleansing flames dissipating the negative energy. Close the ceremonial space.

Later, pour salt water on the ashes before releasing them back to the earth.

I am a procrastinator. I can be really lazy and unmotivated, especially when it comes to housework. I can be judgmental and condescending. I struggle to forgive, and holding grudges is easy. Easily irritated. Stubborn.
