Xueling didn’t say anything when Gwen Stacy died.

She just turned to me and crawled up into my arms and waited for an explanation. Whether she understood it or not I’m not sure yet, but she understands that Gwen saved hundreds of lives and Spiderman’s, and that she did all this knowing it was dangerous, and sometimes we do the best we can to help everyone and it’s still not enough, and that we visit the graves of the people we loved because we miss them.
She also wants to know why all of Peter Parker’s friends are either dead or like Garshon (the boy who bullied her in school.) For that, I have no answer at all, because “Marvel hates Peter Parker and wants him to suffer” is hard for her to understand as a concept.

And she understands that there is pain and there is suffering and sometimes we don’t want to move and sometimes we want to come to a stop, but that doesn’t mean that we stop.

That doesn’t mean that we surrender.

It just means we push harder.

Life lessons from Spiderman.

Why not?
