Journaling prompt:

What is ending, or needs to end, in my life? What are my beliefs about death and life-after-death? How would I live my life if I were diagnosed with a terminal illness? What would be important to me then?

Your Death Spark:

Write your own obituary. It may seem macabre at first glance, but it’s actually a great way to review your life and to consider what you want to leave as a legacy.

Just get started; it doesn’t have to be perfect. Begin with the basics: significant dates like birth and marriage, family members, affiliations, creative work, career. Add some of the highlights of your life — memories and accomplishments.

Write about what your life means to you, and what your most significant lessons have been. (This may be the hardest part of all, but it will be the part that touches the most hearts.)

Include a favorite photo of yourself, or more than one, from different times in your life. Be sure to leave your written piece in a place where your family members can access it, when the time comes.

Extra credit: take inspiration from the book Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure, and sum up your life in six words, like this: “Cursed by cancer. Blessed by friends.” Or this one from Jane Goodall: “Forest peace, sharing vision, always optimistic.”

Artistically, this is my favorite card in the Gaian Tarot. Anyway…

  • I heard something once…that when we pass, we come back again and a gain in different lives until we learn all the lessons we need to learn. And once we have, then we pass on to Heaven, or the Summerland, whatever you may know it as.
-If I knew I was going to die…I would like to think that I would travel the world, doing all sorts of exciting things, meeting people, exploring. Living like a gypsy. Spending time with my close friends and family would be incredibly important to me though, and disappearing around the globe would make that difficult. Maybe rent a lake house with my girlfriends and their significant others and just live by the water, surrounded by forest. Laugh and love surrounded by nature. Die in nature. That would be my ideal situation anyway.

Briar.
