Midwife appointment in Baby #3

Everything looked good today at my 15 week appointment. Baby's heart rate was 130-140 and I have only gained 5 pounds so far. My bp was normal 110/70 and nothing new to report.

Unfortunately I am going to have to make some changes as far as medical care or insurance. We have cigna, but even with our insurance we still have many medical bills associated with this pregnancy. Just to be seen by the birth center it is $2500 (due by 32 weeks) and a delivery there would be another $2800, also due by 32 weeks… we just realistically can't afford that plus the ultrasound expenses we have accumulated through the maternal fetal place… and what if a NICU stay is in our future or a complicated delivery with many nights in the hospital. I am just concerned that with just Adam working right now we are getting ourselves into something we can not get out of. So.. I had to apply for the state pregnancy insurance today :-/ I am sure it is no big deal and I know plenty of people who need some sort of assistance throughout their lives, but I hate that I have to even worry about prenatal appointments and hospital fees.. I want another home birth! I want an unassisted pregnancy and I know as a nurse I can do a lot of my prenatal care myself, but for me being so high risk it is not feasible. It's just causing a lot of unnecessary stress that I know will mean nothing in the years to come, but for now it is causing me a lot of internal conflict.

On a positive note… we canned 4 pints and 3 quarts of salsa tonight and tomorrow I am starting on tomato sauce! Its so nice to be able to make at least some of our own food out of our garden. We have enough corn frozen to get us through the next few months and we'll certainly have enough tomatoes too :-) Adam has a billion pickles too, but I have zero interest in those.
