It’s starting to seem Autumnal, and I really don’t like it. I’m a summer person. This time of year is sad to me. It’s the end of light evenings and warm days. It’s teh stat of central heating breakdowns and icy roads.
I’ve been away on holiday. We camped for three nights in South Devon, near Dartmouth. It was fun, but not very relaxing. The camp site is connected with a sort of theme park with water slides, magic shows, and all sorts of rides. The boy had a wonderful time. Well we all had a good time, but it was really about the boy having fun. In addition to water slides and magic shows we visited the beach and ate fish and chips, collected shells, paddled in the water and all that sort of thing. We also visited Bristol zoo, and had Japanese food in Cardiff at the weekend. Now I’m back at work and it’s raining.
I made home-made pork pie this week, and my chef friend said it was “impressive”. I feel this was something of an achievement. It may be that he was just being polite of course. He also liked my raspberry jam. I’ve made 14 pots now, and still the raspberries come. I have half a kg in the freezer.
I realised last week that some bastard has stolen my spare wheel. I don’t even know how long it’s been gone. It’s going to cost me about £115 for a new one. I need a new aerial too, since I snapped that off on the garage door - Doh! I’m guessing the wheel either vanished during one of its services, or while it was parked at Heathrow for two weeks in April. Astounding that someone would actually nick a spare wheel. In any case, it should be replaced at the weekend.
I’m not in the mood to write, here are some pictures…
Look how neatly I packed our car.
