My mom came to visit today :) She's staying until Friday. She decided to come to help me out with the boys for a couple of mornings since she knows I'm just getting used to working again. She came just before lunch so we ate, the kids napped and then we went to the mall to get Cody some new shoes which he desperately needed since the only pair of running shoes he has are a cheap pair I bought at Giant Tiger in the spring. I had the lady at the shoe store measure his feet and discovered his feet have somehow grown a ton. His winter boots were size 6 and the running shoes I ended up buying him were a 9.5. Crazy!

Later on when we got home I was making lasagna while my mom entertained the kids. Just for fun we decided to sit Cody on the potty and keep giving him drinks hoping he would finally pee on it. He has not peed on the potty once even though I've had him sit on it at least a dozen times. So he sat there and my mom was reading him books about going to the potty. She gave him one juice box, then another, then a cup of water. Still he wasn't peeing. Then she said that she remembered when my oldest brother was little she'd pour some warm water on him down there and he'd start to pee. Nope, that didn't work either. I ran some water loudly for him to hear but that didn't work either. Then we remembered the trick where if you put someones hand in warm water it will make them pee. So we put both of his hands in a cup of warm water. Cody thought we were really weird. He kept laughing lol. And after an hour of sitting on the potty, right when I was about to give up and take him off of it he started to pee! It was so exciting haha (what has my life become? lol). He seemed shocked that he peed too. And happy. I even gave him a treat afterwards as a reward. Let's hope this means he will start peeing on the potty more frequently.

We might be crazy but we booked a hotel for Saturday night in Niagara falls with two Queen beds. Mike, Cody and I will sleep in one and my MIL will sleep in the other. Miles will sleep in his playpen. I'm a bit nervous about it because Cody never sleeps in a bed with us. Like I did when he was a really tiny baby sometimes but he hasn't slept in the same bed with me or Mike in an extremely long time. I hope by the time we get back to the hotel room he'll be so pooped that he'll sleep no problem. And while I'm excited to spend a couple of days at the falls I'm also a little anxious about it because it's going to take some work to keep Miles happy the whole time and to constantly have bottles and food available for him that he will eat. Like if we go to a restaurant he's not going to eat restaurant food. I'm going to have to have a supply of fruit and other things that he eats. Breakfast will be easy because he loves lots of breakfast foods but the rest will be interesting. I'll just have to bring a crapload of random stuff that he'll eat and buy some whole milk and fruit to put in our hotel fridge once we get to the hotel. These days he's drinking half my milk and half whole milk during the day so I guess I'll mix a few bottles and have them in a cold bag during the day. Life is seriously complicated when you have a little one. Cody is easy at this age. I just need snacks/diapers/drinks and he's fine. But a baby is a whole different matter. I don't even want to think about how possibly cranky he could be from not having proper naps. Despite all of this worrying I will do my best to enjoy myself and have fun lol.

Oh and I came up with a wonderful idea! Miles has 2 naps at this age. Cody has his 1 afternoon nap when Miles has his 2nd nap of the day. I was thinking of putting Cody in some kind of preschool program for a few hours a few days a week to prepare him for full day kindergarten next year and it turns out there's some offered at the exact time that Miles usually has his first nap. That would mean I could drop Cody off, come home, put Miles down for a nap and have a nap myself and then when we woke up we'd pick Cody up from his preschool. Then I'd also have a nap when they both napped later on thus giving me enough sleep to survive :) Yay! Oh and the preschool is a really good price too and comes highly recommended from other people in my town. It's 2 hours for 3 mornings a week for $120 a month. I just hope Cody enjoys it! I think he'll be a bit nervous at first that I'm not going to be there but he loves kids and playing so I think he'll get used to it quickly. I haven't signed him up yet but I'm going to check it all out next week. Excited!! He might even start talking more from being around other kids more :) :) :)
