So somehow my sweet little boy is 3 today. He really is sweet too. He loves cuddling with me still and I treasure those times. He cuddles with Mike much less but Mike loves it when he does, mostly on weekend mornings. The last time he cuddled with him he said, "I don't understand how people can not want to have kids when you can have moments like this." My heart melted at that moment because Mike certainly doesn't say stuff like that too often but I know he loves the kids a lot. He kisses and hugs them all the time, plays with Cody a lot and is excited about taking Cody to hockey games with him (he buys season tickets to OHL hockey every year). Unfortunately he is way less bonded with Miles so far but that's partly not his fault since Miles will still barely let him hold him, especially if I'm around. He's excited to eventually have one more kid too. He gets excited thinking about things we can do with the kids when they're older but I think a lot of guys are like that and find the baby stage difficult. Heck I find the baby stage hard sometimes.
So anyways, yes Cody is 3 today. I am giving him some special treats today to celebrate like I gave him a cupcake with his breakfast, let him watch cartoons while he ate and today I will think of something fun to do rather than sit in all day. It's cloudy out so maybe I will take him to a playplace. Or see if any stores around give kids anything free on their birthday. Maybe a free ice cream? We are celebrating both kids' birthdays this Saturday at my parents place. I am making 2 birthday cakes too. One will be in a Mickey Mouse cake pan I have and the other will be another cool design that I get at the bulk barn since you can rent cake pans there for $1 a day. I will bring the cakes to my parents place and on the friday night my mom and I will ice them while the kids are in bed. It will probably take a while to do Mickey Mouses face and whatever the other one is but it's a fun tradition and I love sharing it with my mom.
I thought for sure by age 3 Cody would understand all about birthdays but I don't think he really gets it yet. Maybe he will on Saturday? Lol. Our gift to him was the day out with Thomas but I also have some books for him that he will get at dinner tonight. I just picked up Miles' gift last night. We got him a toy remote control for the TV since he's always grabbing ours and a toy phone and little musical thing. He loves dancing to music and these toys were small and inexpensive so they're perfect. My parents got Cody a tricycle so I'm excited to see what he thinks of that. Oh and my brother is getting him a ball and soft bat since he loved playing with my niece's at the family reunion last Saturday so I'm sure he'll be happy about that. I know he's going to be thrilled to open presents and have cake. I can barely wait lol. Am I weird to get so excited to see my kid so happy? Lol. I had no idea what to ask my family to get Miles so he will probably get a few random things. Oh and my mom said she'd get a humidifier which will be nice for cold/flu season since we don't have one yet. She also said she'd get me a few gift cards that I can use on stuff he'll need in the future which is awesome. I love practical gifts like that instead of junk :)
In other news I have 11 days until I have to return to work. I know it is a definite blessing to be able to have a year off with my babies but I'm still sad that it's almost over. I'm trying not to be too sad about it. After all I will still see them every day :) Oh and I'm addicted to the show Big Brother lol. It's so good! I watched all of season 12 on youtube recently and really enjoyed it.
Miles is such a fast crawler now it's crazy. He pulls to standing a lot too and is constantly falling and hurting himself :( And he rips apart Cody's train set 100 times a day. Ugh. And gets his fingers caught in the cupboard drawers. Last night he crawled to the front door and I heard him crinkling something so I let him play a bit and then went out there and he'd opened a Bear Paw and was happily eating it. What the heck? Lol. Cody can't even open those yet! Oh and the other day I set him on the grass while I set up the stroller for literally 2 minutes and when I picked him up he had a cigarette butt in his mouth. So gross :(
