Good morning, the weather is fine and summery, the allotment is bearing fruit (and vegetables) and all is right with the world. Did I already write about the Ribena drink I made from blackcurrants at the allotment? We got a lot of blackcurrants on our three bushes and in addition to five pots of jam, I made a bottle of blackcurrant drink. It was quite successful. I've also dug up our garlic. We got quite a bit.
The trucks for my new skateboard have arrived. I can't do anything with them until the deck arrives though. That should be today, but I can't pick it up from the parcel office until Friday. The parcel office is now about 200 miles away on the wrong side of town. Thanks Royal Mail. I still need wheels, bearings and fixings, but I am looking to source them from a local shop. Yes, this is probably a mid-life crisis, but building skateboards is probably more morally sound than making a fool of myself trying to impress 20-year-old barmaids, and cheaper than buying a Lotus.
I've decided to limit myself to two cups of coffee a day. I generally drink coffee in the morning at the office. I never count, but I'm thinking probably my average daily tally must be four or five. In the afternoon I drink tea. I'm seeing how I manage on a limit of two in any case. This will be day three. It's 9:30 am, and I've already used up my quota.
School summer holidays start on Friday, which is also my birthday. In fact next week the boy and the dragon are going to be away visiting friends on the other side of the country. I will be home alone drinking beer in my underwear on the couch, watching the Horror Channel. It sounds appealing, but I've done this before and in fact the novelty wears off very fast. I have things lined up to do when I get bored with beer and low budget horror. They will be gone for a week.
There was a plane crash yesterday in Taiwan. This year seems very bad for aviation disasters. The Taiwan crash is being blamed on a typhoon. And as I type this, news is now coming in of yet another plane missing from radar over Algeria.
I'm bored to death with the Commonwealth Games, and it's only day two. I feel like the Olympics has only just finished, and the world cup, and Wimbledon. The Tour de France never seems to go away. We have too much sport.
