two weeks ago an Amber Alert was put out in my city. A child and his grandparents had disappeared. They grandparents had hosted an estate sale at the their home the previous day, and their grandchild had been over, there to spend the night with his grandparents. All three were nowhere to be found the following morning when his mother arrived to pick him up.
Last week a man with not so positive business connections to the family was arrested. Public was told he was being held on previous outstanding charges, not in relation to the case. He was released on bail last Friday. This morning at 1:30 am, he was arrested again.
The Amber Alert was canceled this morning, and charges are being laid this afternoon. They have not yet verified that the charges are being laid against the same person as was arrested this morning, but it seems quite clear that it is him. There will be two counts of first degree, and one of second degree. 1st degree in Canada means there was intent, 2nd degree is not necessarily intended. The 1st degree charges are for the grandparents, the 2nd is for the grandchild.
Essentially, wrong place, wrong time for the child. My heart is breaking for this family. I can't imagine how they are going to deal with this. I don't know if I could handle that.
Additionally, a Burner commited suicide in front of 1200 people at the Utah Element11 burner event yesterday. I cannot imagine the impact on people who were exposed to that. So insane and selfish.
Humans are so horrible. The world sucks. So much pain. My heart is breaking, for all the people affected by each of these events.
