Even though we don't have a lot of money left over after all the bills are paid, we are saving to go to Florida in February since my parents will be there and we are dying to go to some theme parks there. In fact, I just got an email yesterday saying that the new section of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida will be completed in 3 weeks. I am ridiculously excited about this lol. We have been twice. Once on our honeymoon and once when Cody was 6 months. They started with having a little Hogsmeade village with a few rides and with the new addition you get to board the Hogwarts express and get taken to the other side of the park where they've built Diagon Alley! With more rides! When we go in February, our visit to Universal studios will be a day completely to ourselves. My parents will watch the kids. There are a few kid things to do there but it's mostly big kid rides. We love all the roller coasters and just how unique the rides are compared to anything around here. Can't freaking wait!
We don't have to save a ton for Florida either because my parents are going to pay for half the flight and all of our hotel while we are there because they want us to visit and they are very generous people. We have to pay for a plane ticket for Cody this time which sucks but at least Miles is free. Kids ride on your lap until they're two. And yes I realize that my kids will be 1.5 and 3.5 when we go which is really too young to fully enjoy Disney but the trip is more for us than the kids because we absolutely love Florida. And it is sooooo exciting looking forward to going. I am super happy right now just thinking about it. Eeeeeee! We are planning to go for a week and a half in late February. We will definitely go to Magic Kingdom with the kids and hopefully Cody will be old enough to enjoy it a bit. He hasn't even seen any Disney movies yet even though we own most of them. I plan to start showing him them soon on days that are too hot or rainy when we need to stay in. I am sure he won't watch the whole movies but I bet he will enjoy the music and get to know the characters after I play them a few times so that when we go he will recognize them. We will probably go to Florida every few years too, so the kids will see Disneyworld again. It is expensive but you only live once and as much as I would love to pay my credit cards off, I am more interested in enjoying life and making wonderful memories.
So back to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It's such an awesome little land at Universal! The main ride is in the Hogwarts castle which is huge and unbelievable because as you walk through the line you go through all these different rooms with Harry Potter paraphernalia. One room has a hologram with Harry, Ron and Hermione talking to you, another has stone walls full of pictures that move and talk just like in Hogwarts, you see the sorting hat and all sorts of cool things. It is extremely well done. And then on the ride you are in a moving car type thing facing a continuous screen which takes you on an adventure with Harry, Ron and Hermione. It's pretty exhilarating :) Oh and of course while we were there we tried some butterbeer and pumpkin juice. And I bought a chocolate frog, a t-shirt and a pygmy puff. My husband bought a wand ol. Great fun!
Speaking of fun, there's so many things I want to do this summer but sadly there's not enough time or money to do it all. I want to go zip lining! And to a water park! And go to Niagara Falls! And to a Blue Jay game! And swimming at the beach a few times! Oh how I love the summer and the endless possibilities of fun it brings :)
