Southland in General

I’m binge watching Southland. Police drama based in Las Angeles, centered as near as I can tell the Hollywood Division.

Being an aficionado of the Bosch series, I feel like I know these streets. Of course I don’t.

I’ve never been there.

They throw around acronyms without explaining.

“RHD” Robbery Homicide Division. Strange division of labor between patrol, RHD and the detective bureau. Both in Southland, and the Bosch series of books.

I’ve two more seasons to watch.

No movement on the GDBIW front. I was hoping to hear something, but not really expecting to. That is just the way the world works theses days.

Almost all the chores are done. Remaining is vacuuming the upstairs, vacuuming the car and cleaning the windows in the car.

The sun is sitting lower and lower in the sky and it is obvious the windows need to be cleaned. Angles and whatnot.

I have a Tomahawk Ribeye prepped for the grill. A Russet in the oven.

I would be lying if I didn’t say I miss a woman’s presence.

I do like those police procedurals............ Especially in L.A.

You actually may sort of know the streets. As many L.A. streets & locations have been used for a lot of different TV shows over the years. It's not unusual to see someplace & recognize it from an old program. Especially if it's near one of the major studios where a lot of shows are filmed.

I'd LOVE to get my hands on a Tomahawk. Tucson is beef country after all and you'd think it would be easy...but there's none to be had.
Not even on any steakhouse menu here, where a decent Ribeye is now around $40.

I keep my eye out for sales - recently got two 5# boneless rib roasts for $9 a pound. Cut those into inch thick steaks, shrink wrapped them and put them in the freezer. The tomahawk I got at...wait for it...Wally World. 3# for $25 bucks. The last day I was working there I was hauling a pallet of coffee through the meat aisle and stopped in my tracks. What the hell!

I got off work, dumped my bag in the car and marched right back in and grabbed that tomahawk.

I've not understood the wonky way logistics in this country works. Midcoast Maine is tail-end-charlie of the I-95 corridor, and yet we haven't had shortages of anything - well except the run on TP at the beginning of the pandemic. And this weird tomato sauce run. But if you can get tomatos, you can make your own tomato sauce.

I hope you get good news soon!
