I'll be in Key West in a week! I still can't believe we are making that long drive, but I think it will be fun. At least fun to look back on? We are leaving Wednesday evening around 6:30 (although possibly as late as eight, when roomie gets out of class. He's going to try to skip it though) and ideally driving straight through. The wedding isn't until Friday (not sure if it's in the morning or afternoon, should probably check) but I'd like to be there Thursday night so we have plenty of time to crash for a night.
I still need to buy a dress. It's a beach wedding so a maxi dress is perfectly fine, but I am so fair-skinned that I really never spend enough time in the sun to warrant even having one in the first place. I'm not really a dress person, either.
TMI Alert: I had my last laser appointment today. Actually it probably won't be my last but it was the last of the scheduled ones. I can keep going until I'm 100% happy with it (which I am, but why not throw in another just to see if it can get rid of the last few stragglers). I am SO pleased with the results. I always have thought shaving, especially the bikini area, was such a hassle. I was getting waxed for a while but that hurts a lot and it just grows back. And it's expensive. A brazilian is going to run at least $50 with a tip and a bikini is going to be at least $25. That's every four weeks, and honestly I think after two weeks it has grown back enough that I'm not comfortable anymore. I have a permanent brazilian now and it will have paid for itself in under three years. And the reason I did it was mostly for comfort reasons (as in, I find down-there-hair to be incredibly uncomfortable), but it's also nice to know that if I have to throw on a bathing suit, I don't have to even think about it anymore.
They had the laser cranked up to the highest setting for this one and OUCH. The first two appointments didn't hurt much. The third and fourth appointments hurt a bit. The last four appointments have been pretty painful, but it's bearable. It's not a lingering pain, either. When I used to get waxed, it would still sting for an hour or so afterward. This takes about as much time as a wax and I walk away feeling completely fine. My friend R is also getting it done and she has had some itching. She's also using a different type of laser since she's darker-skinned. Everyone is different, but my experience has been great. I just pop a couple of OTC pain killers an hour beforehand and it's really not so bad.
