I used to see them as defects
As cracks on a porcelain doll
The imperfections were all I saw
And how they reflected on me
But now I see them as they are
Those stretches in my skin
They strike across my stomach
Like lighting strikes the sky
And those bumps on my arm
They’re the stars as they sparkle
My stomach as round as earth
My legs sturdy like tree trunks
My smile warm like summer
