So I had just moved to Dubai, I have started my new school, I am happy for the first time in about 3 years. Christmas rolls around and I am getting excited. One day we are eating dinner and my cousin is refusing his food. He has not eaten much lately, complaining about his stomach, and having digestive issues. Now we all thought it was just stomach pains and he needs to drink more water. That night I woke up to the sound of screaming. I run to the bathroom where my whole family is standing over the bathtub. My 6 year old cousin has vomited up blood. My aunt and uncle rushed him to the hospital, I stayed at home to care for my 4 year old cousin and the cat. He is held in the hospital for about 2 days. My whole family is scared out of their minds. We are called to the hospital one day and we see him on a bed watching TV and smiling. He seemed happy, I thought everything would be fine until the doctors walked in. They had the most grave expression, I thought he was a dead man.

They told us the news and immediately the smile on my cousins face was wiped off. My brother and cancer, Leukemia to be exact. He had blood cancer. his blood cells were fighting each other.

The next few months were terrible. He was in so much pain it is a miracle he came out alive. There were times where I would pray to anyone, ” Just let him go, let him die tonight and forever sleep peacefully rather than deal with this.” I hate to admit it but I really did wish for him to just …hit the bucket… more or less. That makes me sound like a terrible person but.....

He had started chemotherapy, lost his hair, and was getting better. He was walking, smiling, and having fun. 1 year passed, soon 2 years passed and he came out alive.
Then just my luck, his brother went and got an ear infection. But that is another story.

Next time: Rebels and their sins.
