Good Morning World
I have been up and out of bed since 6 a.m. Right now the sun is shining. It is currently 18 degrees. It is supposed to get around 25 for a high. We did get a light dusting of snow overnight. More of that is expected tonight. Tomorrow won’t be as warm. But Monday high is expected at 36 degrees. Then we go in the deep freeze again for 2 days and then Thursday back in the ’30s. Snow is in the forecast for 3 out of 5 days this week. I don’t think any major accumulation is expected. This winter is truly a roller coaster ride.
I am going to go out and grocery shop today. I have my list. There are some meat sales I am going to try to take advantage of. If the meat is available. I have been watching youtube videos for some different recipes. Since it’s just me anything I make I usually have leftovers. I am looking for different things. I am bored. And being diabetic I want to keep my eating on track. I am still doing well with no sugar and no soda. I don’t really miss those things. I am eating healthy snacks. And I do feel better. I am hoping my dr. will be happy with my Blood sugar numbers. I check 3x a day right now.
I know I must sound ungrateful when I talk about food stamps and other things. I am very grateful. It’s just I think that elderly and retired people living on a fixed income are so overlooked. I would love to find a senior housing place to live that I can afford. My sister who collects SSDI ( Disability ) is living in one right now. I found it for her. Her rent is $770 plus all of her utilities and internet, and $25 for water and her washer and dryer. But she receives a lot more money every month than I do. She has never worked. She is collecting because she fell and broke her kneecap while drunk and developed a blood clot. And had to have multiple surgeries. She is a recovering Alcoholic. Her husband died 5 yrs ago from cancer. So she is drawing partially on his SS and part on disability. She gets free medical as well. She is currently sober. But is a mess. She doesn’t realize how well she has it. She draws almost $2,000 a month for SSDI.
Where I live there is no senior housing. I have applied where my sister is and other places but there is a waiting list a mile long. I want to get out of my mobile home. I want to have no maintenance. I want lower electric bills. I want to be around people. I want snow removal and possibly transportation other than driving myself. And home delivery of groceries would be so wonderful. We don’t have any of that in this small town. Some might say I am spoiled. But when you develop health problems and it’s hard to do things you used to you want to be more comfortable. I own my mobile home. But I have lot rent that increases every 4-6 months. I have to maintain my lawn and snow removal. I have to pay for my garbage and water. My gas and electric bills are crazy. My sister has electric heat and she pays $57 a month. It is frustrating. In the spring I will reapply places and hope and pray I can make some progress.
I am still reading the same book. “The Paris Detective” by James Patterson. I hope to finish it today. I have several books checked out from the library so I need to get busy.
I am going to stop here and get dressed and ready to go grocery shopping.

I hope you get into this housing. Your sister sounds like she has it all. :(
