It's like someone forgot to flip the switch on the sun today. It never really got light. It's been a while since it stayed so dark and overcast. Mid 40s, cool and clammy. It rained all day, and now we are having baby thunderstorms. You know the ones where it rains like hell, but it never quite burps up any thunder?

I spoke too soon. There goes the first rumble.

I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth it to go to Shaw's for PEI mussels. They are always ridiculously cheap here. Like lobster down in Phippsburg during the summer.

I'd go to Anna's for some seafood if it wasn't so far, and it wasn't raining so hard. My night vision is crap these days, and it doesn't help that the winter grinds all the center-lines and fog-lines off the roads - so when it rains and I am driving at night all I see is inky blacktop with indistinct borders.

Admiral McRaven - the guy at the helm of the Special Operations Command, and if you watched the movie "Zero Dark Thirty" was the guy who the link between the operators and the CIA. An actual American hero. It is hard to believe he is only seven years older than me.

He gave the commencement at the University of Texas. In Austin. A well known looney left enclave in Texas. Seems they liked his message.

It is a pretty inspiring address.
