Anime and being crazy in The Lighthouse

Watching the second episode of this anime "Makakucity Actors" and the teacher is asking one of the characters "how could you have possibly done so poorly in this test?" and she replies, "Well, when it asked for numbers next to this historic figure, I put his Attack Power Level! When it left room for a comment next to Napoleon I put a Battle Quote I made up! and after I finished reading the history book to study, I ate it to gain its power!"

Now, I know these are supposed to make her seem bizarre, funny and yet endearing, but to me all I thought was "Wow, this person is awesomely creative and I'd love to know her first hand". The fact that she chose these things rather than the answers - and especially that she ate the book afterword - what can I say ... I find schizophrenic, schizotypal and related disorders attractive. Yes, they can be debilitating, but the people I know who are still (or presently) functional and fall into these categories - myself included - are also incredibly interesting and creative individuals. These are people who don't take the world for what it is to everyone else ... they may know that they are mentally ill - that old saw "if you're worried you're crazy then you're not" is mostly bs, many of the mentally interesting people I know are quite aware they are bent, sometimes broken, in various ways - but when you can embrace that on a level that allows you to remain functional (ish ... goodness knows I'm not always functional ... as recent events have once again demonstrated) it is a magical thing.

This character, she had me at "ate my school book to gain its power".
