“She was a good dog-
Always full of life.
She is declining now and we don’t want to watch her suffer”
And then you walked away.
And didn’t turn back to see
How she wanted to follow you.
How i had to hold her back
How my tears fell for a pain that really isn’t mine
That pain belonged to her.
Your good dog.
The one that occasionally forgot what she was meant to do.
The one who didn’t forget you.
My tears fell as I held her till she succumbed to the sedation
Those tears that didn’t belong to me.
They belonged to her.
Your good dog.
The one that spent those happy years with you.
The one that u left behind today
In the arms of a stranger who will take her life.
And her pain
And hold her till she no longer remembers
That moment you walked away.
