Going to Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota... in 2014

Haven't been around much because I've been busy packing and moving. Still waiting on laundry before I can pack clothes. I'll technically be gone for 11 days, so I need to pack for 11 days and since I'm driving, I tend to overpack a little. I have a weekend suitcase and a backpack--I figure I can just use the backpack and go back out to the car and add clothes from the suitcase (Cori's room is small so I don't want to add to it by lugging in my suitcase).

Weather is supposed to be crappy both days that I'm driving. Tomorrow I'm driving to Catie's in Ohio. She's working so she won't be home when I arrive but I hope I'll still be awake when she gets back so I can at least say hello. Then Thursday I'm leaving early to head up to Stevens Point, WI and spending two nights at a hotel there. Haven't been there in 3 years; I'm sure as always nothing has changed.

Well, I take that back. I guess they redesigned the town square and that old quiet strip mall went out of business. So things do change.

Most of the stuff I'm bringing this time is kitchen items. I probably don't even have enough to fill a kitchen (even a small one) and yet I still feel like there's a lot. Mom sprung for a skillet/pan/pot set for me--just a cheap beginner's one that cost like $75. It'll do. Obviously I don't need 70% of what I'm bringing (in any of these trips) at Catie's but it'll be nice that it's just extra stuff I won't need to haul from Fairfax to Cincinnati and it will already be at Catie's an hour away from Cinci.

Anyway, it's been a stressful and tiring day but I'm counting down the days until I see Cori. And my grandpa, of course, but especially Cori :) Oh, and I should mention, right after writing the last entry Cori told me he told his boss that he accidentally accepted an extra shift (the Sunday one I said he picked up, not remembering I'd be visiting) and I think he doesn't need to work that night. Of course, the next day the transmission in his car completely dies and it will cost $1800 to replace (rebuilt) which is a huge chunk of change that he was hoping to have for school and rent in Cincinnati...

sigh

I hope to God this is the last expense with that car. As it is, his friend's parents offered to loan him the money and he can pay them back as he can (like $100/month). His friend has really been there for him--he's even been driving Cori to work since his car's in the shop, a big deal since Cori works midnight-8:30 AM. But yeah. More confirmation that as expensive as my own car payment is, I can't get rid of my car. It's new and reliable and we need a reliable car.

So in addition I think I'm going to wear a dress to Cori's graduation (which is Sunday morning). I love dresses but since I'm like nearly 10 pounds heavier than I was in the fall, I'm kind of "blah." Although the dress I want to wear should be fine because I wore it in NYC in June, and in June I was only about 2 or 3 pounds less than I am now so it should still fit and look fine. We'll see.

And that's all for now, I need to finish laundry and see if there's anything else I can shove into my car for storage at Catie's. I may update once while there but I'll probably want to savor every moment I have with Cori :)
