It is official. Europe is happening! Slightly less than two months to go.
Plane tickets have been booked, hotels have been planned, and I've been a researching fiend.
I will be going to our conference we are holding in Vienna and will be there for about a week and a half for that. (That in and of itself should be quite spectacular.) Jacob will fly out and arrive on my last work day. We will have 3 days in Vienna (with probably a day trip to Salzburg where the Sound of Music was filmed) and 5 days in Rome. I counted out the days and I think I will be gone for 3 weeks total, which kind of baffles me and scares me all at once. I hope the entire time is enjoyable and I don't feel burnt out after the work portion.
Thankfully it shouldn't be rushed at all. I have a list of things we want to do, but it should only bit a bit planned for most days, leaving a good chunk of time for general exploration.
I've bought Colosseum/Roman Forum tickets and tickets for a Scavi Tour. The Scavi Tour should be a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing for us I think. It is in Vatican City and it is a tour of the "underground" -- under where St. Peter's Basilica sits. You see the old city and where Saint Peter rests. Only a certain number of people get to visit a day and it involved quite a bit of emailing and coordinating, but it should be worth it. I have plans to pre-purchase a lot of other things but have to wait another week or two until it is close enough to the date to actually purchase them.
In any case, I am excited! (If you can't tell by the large amount of words before, now you know.)
I bought my first DSLR camera this past weekend. I've been saving religiously from each paycheck and was very close to having all the money for it. Jacob caught me off guard over the weekend and said he would pay the rest. I am so excited to learn and be creative.
Our 4th anniversary is this Friday. It's kind of hard to believe how quick it goes. It's equally hard to imagine how much stuff has happened to us together during that amount of time. We have reservations for a fancy Asian fusion restaurant downtown named Sunda. Jacob thankfully has another weekend day off, so I'm sure we will do some other celebratory things as well. I am promising myself that next year we will celebrate with a mini-trip.
My creative blog (and this blog for that matter) have been lacking. It's been hard for me to be creative all day and try to be creative when I get home. I've definitely been working on projects, but haven't shared them. I finally shared a wood pallet project we did a few months ago here.
I started focusing on my health a bit ago. This is my 8th week of working on myself. I've lost almost 10 pounds so far and some inches in various spots. I am proud of myself for not being drastic with what I'm doing (watching calories...most of the time and walking LOTS) and for still having success. I ideally would like to lose 10 more pounds but am trying to ignore that and do all of this for the benefit of myself.
Random photos to end a very long entry.
Jacob officiated his first wedding...our city friends Branden and Tukta.

My neighborhood...

Sophie and Jacob at the dog park.

And evidently that is it since it seems Instagram photos don't do too well with Prosebox. :)
