Camp in 2020

Those of you who have seen my Facebook probably think my kids had an excellent time at camp. Apparently the photos I was sent were the highlight reel, because when I picked them up on Friday they both were like, “Yeah, let’s never do that again.” I think my son had a problem with one (or more?) of the boys in his group, and daughter was just homesick. I’m encouraging them to focus on the positives - they did get to do some fun stuff! But they are one hundred percent sure they never want to go again, LOL.

One very good thing that came out of it is that they are being nice to each other. Apparently they weren’t together very much, but when their groups met up at the pool or elsewhere they were happy to see each other and that has lasted even after they got home. I have threatened them both that if they start fighting again they are going back for two weeks next year.

My (lazy) coworker was allegedly sick last week, so I ended up working a bunch of extra hours and didn’t get to enjoy my quiet house as much as I’d hoped to, but it was a fun week for us overall. Even if they don’t go to camp again, in a few short years they’ll both (theoretically) be in college, so it’s almost like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids, but…
