Icky gross toe shit in Hot town, summery in the city - 2017

Well, obviously, my toe doesn’t shit, it has no bowl… but, just to say, you’re warned!!

So, ya know my run? Well, I had a few sore toes afterwards. Not terrifically surprising as my trail shoes were cheap one while I decided if I really liked trail running. I expected them to get slowly better.

Which they did.

Except for one.

My left little toe (not the one growing in the wrong place) was becoming more painful so I did an impression of a contortionist in order to see it. Then I used the torch on my phone, then the camera, zoomed in. It would appear that my left little toenail has a crack down the length of it. Out of the crack is seeping a clear liquid.

Yum!!!

My diagnosis is this: my toenail cracked at some point. The muddy water that oozed through my shoes and socks throughout the run found the nice little hidy crack in the nail and nestled in, wiggling it’s bum as it settled down and then deposited all its bacteria. Over a couple of days that bacteria had lots if parties and bacteria-esque orgies in my toenail until they created a lovely little infection.

I cannot put shoes on, let alone run because it huuuuuuuurts when I try! So I am now washing, disinfecting and plastering twice a day.

I’ll put a stop to their hanky-panky in my socks!!!

Yikes! Sounds like you have a good handle on it.

Do you have polysporin there? the antibiotic cream/ointment?

Any antibiotics would have to come from a doctor so I’m just going to see how it goes for a few days x

Oh here we can buy polysporin, and it's copycats over the counter,

Oh no! Funny description but can you pit some antibiotic ointment on it?

Peroxide and tea tree oil but yeah, you probably need antibiotics too .

ermentrude Jinn ⋅ July 07, 2021

Nah. Antibiotics for inside stuff, not outside stuff. It’s all better now.
