Image: Burn. Encaustic paint on metal flashing. 10in x 10in.
Burn;
Burn golden orange yellow glow
in blue green black
infinite depths.
Burn;
burn like
pain
burn like
courage
burn like
fear in the dark
when there is no net to catch you,
and you've already
taken the first step
off the edge
face first
unsure if you're
falling diving flying
or if at this point
anything matters other than
the feel of the
unsure of where it comes from
hot and cold at once
searing scorching
can't live without it
burn.
Whatever you do,
as bright as you can,
as hot as you can,
burn.
