Some relatively recent temari in 1000 words

I made this one for someone on here. She was looking for beachy colours and maybe a shell charm/ornament with a tassel. I couldn’t find an actual shell that fit the temari, but I did have this charm, so I used that instead.
I joined a Handmade And Trade group for the first quarter of 2021. Basically you are assigned a partner and you craft items for each other based on an informal email meeting. She likes orange and bright blue (not my particular choice of colourways, but hey …). As part of the project you have to post about your partner on your IG. There were such lovely comments about my work, and I picked up a few new followers!
I did these two for a more Valentines colourway theme. The one has needle felted hearts at the poles because I goofed up a bit. The lines are supposed to create a heart at each pole, but I didn’t count properly on the picture that I copied from and didn’t put enough guidelines, so the negative-space heart was a bit vague. I tried to remedy that with the needle felting. I kind of like how it turned out combining my two favourite crafting styles.
This next one is another new pattern for me. It took some time for me to figure out what the pattern writer was trying to say, because I couldn’t make the obi (equator band) based on what they had written. Then, one night while I was trying to fall asleep I had an epiphany and the whole description all of a sudden made sense. So I had to pull out what I had started and do it according to the pattern. This one is for a friend who is recently pregnant after years of trying. It has a piece of Lake Superior basalt stone in the centre so it’s got more weight to it than you would think just by looking at it. I will definitely do this pattern again, but I think that I’m going to change the obi to something easier and a little cleaner looking.
I also made one that I sent to my friend on here [Jigger] for her birthday that I forgot to take a picture of. I did the turtle pattern (for long life) in calico cat colours (a black mari with black, golden orange and creamy white threads). Inside I included an Icelandic stave to ward off evil.
I also sent one to my lymphedema training partner since I haven’t seen her in two years and was missing her a great deal. Again, I didn’t take a picture, but I did the wrap bands in four different jewel tones on a burgundy mari.
And I did this simple one for a friend of mine who gave me a bunch of yarn and thread to use in my temari making. She is a huge Mandalorian fan, so I did this one in “The Child” colours on a dark brown mari.
I have a client that told me casually that she booked a table for November at one of the local markets because she thought that the temari would go along well with her embroidery. If I was interested in selling with her, of course. So I guess I’m going to be stepping up production again and back into the Christmas colourways on occasion.
Life is otherwise good. Regular entry will be coming along either tomorrow or Saturday. I can’t believe that January is already almost over!!

I will take a picture of mine, as soon as I think of a background that won’t be, you know, Murphy sneaking up. I love it.

But that would be the absolute best picture!

Murphy's side-hustle is "background cat sneaking up." LOL.

Wow. Just wow. These are so next level! Love the charms as well, so clever!

I like the first. It’s nifty.

It's lovely to read the inspirations that go into them because they're cooler seeing how they reflect that inspiration. The pregancy one with the basaltic rock is particulary lovely, though I'm tickled at the mandalorian one.
Bravo!

I'll take a picture of myself, as soon as I think of a background that won't. I like to read the revelations that come in them because they are cool to see how they manifest this revelation. You will need wire, balloons, matte medium, and petroleum jelly to make your outdoor jewelry. Your thread could be yarn, twine, crochet thread, or something else, although natural fibers will work better because they are more absorbent.
