Today was our first day back at art class. Whoopee!
10 is our maximum number and most of us were there today. It was lovely to see ome people I haven’t seen forf nearly 12 months, and the regulars. Some of us had done some ‘homework’ and produced a few ‘gems’. We only have one man in our group and he is much too good to be with we learners. Whatever he turns his hand to is brilliant. The rest of us? Well we like each others work. We are learning the skill but have little innate talent.
It is lovely to be able to go about pretty much as normal. I don’t think we’ve had a covid case in this area for probably 10 months (touch wood). If we cross the state border (which basically divides our city) then we need to wear masks in shops I think. We and NZ, and one or two other countries around the world have done well with the lockdowns and are very lucky that this horrible disease hasn’t become rampant here. I’ve been tested twice when I’ve had a cough etc Not a nice experience, but hey, there’s so much worse out there.
I’m told my grand daughter, F, is really looking forward to having the day with me tomorrow. I think we will have fun. I might take her to visit my friend, H. I think she would enjoy her dogs. I also have some new jigsaws and books and we might go to the park.
I’m afraid I’m not very up to date with world affairs. I don’t watch the news. It is quite enough for me to hear it when I have the radio on. I do the best I can. I am not helped by constantly hearing all the updates of what is wrong with the world.
I think my little computer here has about had its day. I bought it in 2105, and although it’s still going ok, it seems to get moody at times anddoes weird things.
A decided earlier this year that he needed a new computer. He doesn’t use Microsoft or Apple but prefers to go with open source software. He decided he could build himself a new one. He worked out what he neede, ordered it and put it together. Problems. It took him age and although he got it mostly working, there was still a problem. He decided that instead he would buy one froma different place with his choice of software already installed. He did. It works....except for the bit that wouldn’t work on the one he’d put together. Seems there is a bit of a hitch with this new issue of software. They are working on it and he is in touch with them so perhaps it will be peerfect one day.
In the meantime, he has told me I can have all the bits that he bought first....so they are with my IT person son, waiting for him to put it together for me. I suspect I will be waiting quite a while. He’s back to working on site again, as well as trying to organise a different home for his 22 year old, and cope with family life with his new partner, their 2yo and her 2 foster kids.
I think Confuscious blessed us all. We do live in interesting times. Or is that a curse. I’ll take it as a blessing, although some of the ‘interest’ is decidedly cursed.
