Career Change in Life After 60

Change is almost always difficult. Well for me at least. It’s leaving the familiar and moving into the unknown. I have learned more and taken more courses in the past 3 years of my life than at any other time. And I hated school and tests.
I just finished serving in the United States Coast Guard Auxilary. I joined for the excitement and thrill of the job. Covid came along and sucked the life right out of that. And the lack of discipline added to the fact I spent more time in classes and zoom meetings than actually wearing the uniform and doing the specific job I trained for finally took its toll.
And that brings me to the career change of a lifetime. And this one, like a few others, just fell into place without me planning it. I love it when a plan comes together. And this one reminds me of Robert Frost’s poem The Road Not Taken. Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I am once again about to take the one less traveled.
In order to make this change, I had to take a two-hour personality Inventory exam. What fun and excitement. 567 questions that will help my employer determine if I am fit for the job. Innocent looking questions that are asked in 10 different ways, in order to see if you are consistent in your answers or if you lie! True or False: Question 12, My Sex Life is satisfactory, 34, I have never been in trouble because of my sexual behavior. Reminds me of Sigmund Freud. My first thought is what the heck does my sex life have to do with the job?
