Christopher Hitchens preached a sermon, I mean gave a talk at Google Mountain View campus in 2007 about “God is not great; how religion poisons everything.” That look on his face— miserable… oh how he hated God!
Pics and videos of pagans….friends & people I’ve met all over the world: did they come from a (post) Christian background in their once Christian European country? Or those in other foreign lands…. never ever having heard of Christ even at this late hour… ?? What of them? Beautiful people, who don’t know their right hand from their left… like children, sometimes petulant bratty children, yes. But children nonetheless. They don’t know what they are doing.
I want them because I love them. I desire to have them… added to my Father’s kingdom.
I pray for them that my Father will give them… as a love gift. This does not sound
very orthodox of me. Don’t worry Christian friends, I’m orthodox “on paper”… (haha not really) but I secretly pray for a universalism that is —YES– hinted at for sure in scriptures. I pray that it is true after all. That way, way at the end of all the rest of the drama that we already understand is unfolding and that is plain to our minds……is just the beginning of redemption. We know there is plenty of little ‘drops’ if you will….hints that speak of such
unspeakable (unorthodox) ideas. Heresy! What on earth will the theologians think? Well they can pound sand.
Well would not that be just fantastic! I want it to be true just to show God haters and pagans that the love of God is greater than their hate of Him… or their ignorance or apathy or indifference or loathing or pride or love of their flesh and their pagan humanity. That their power to hate and reject God is not greater than the power of God’s love and redemption for them. Not to mention I have compassion on them because they are like sheep without a shepherd.
Yes take them Lord, collect them all, kicking and screaming into your redemption through Christ…… to then discover and accept the love that they thought they were rejecting but hoped for all along. Do it Lord, do it all, claim them all……. the whole lot of them…let me be an heretic then and let me be cast out from among the “faithful and pure” of proper biblical Christianity..... let me be despised and rejected by Christendom…..I. do. not. care.
Please God, redeem all of them in Christ, all these beautiful people……… let me die for them if necessary. Let me give my life for them; take my life for theirs. Let me give my blood for them. I trust in You!
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him! Romans 5
He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John2:2
