a crazy parent made me cry today. i didnt want to cry. i didnt mean to cry. i tried really hard not to cry. but she just got under my skin!

this lady is notorious for being a big pain in the ass and a crazy bitch. she likes to rattle people if things dont go her way. at first, i could understand her being upset, but i did NOTHING. it was HER CHILD who didnt do what he was supposed to.

i have 4th/5th grade orchestra after school on fridays. that means i have usually between 50-55 children under my watch. i have 1 assistant to help me. she will let them use the bathroom or get water or whatever. she helps me make sure everyone is on task. this student today apparently came in the room, dropped his things and left. HE NEVER CAME BACK. i never saw him come into rehearsal. my assistant saw him come in and leave. she asked him where he was going, he said the bathroom and then she didnt see him until dismissal. I take the rest of the orchestra downstairs and his mom is standing there. she comes up to me immediately and asks where he son is. i told her he wasnt at rehearsal today. she starts flipping out "oh no! who picked him up? where is he? where is my child?!" all that ghetto shit (remember...i teach in the bronx). i tell her i will go check upstairs to see if maybe hes wandering around, but he did not come to rehearsal. i thought maybe he had to do something with his teacher. go up, see my assistant, ask her if she has seen the student and she tells me he just ran down the other staircase. i run down and there he is standing with his mother. i go up to the mom, try to apologize for the scare and i was going to ask the student where he was, but she started flipping out on me! like it was my fault he didnt come to rehearsal. i almost lost it. i almost started screaming at her. i told her again he didnt go to rehearsal and the security guard pulled me away because he could see i was getting upset. my assistant overheard the student say to his mom that he went to the bathroom without asking because he thought i would say no if he asked to go to the bathroom. hes partially right...once rehearsals have begun, i do not let anyone go to the bathroom unless it is an emergency. i let a student go today. my assistant usually will take care of those issues for me since i have to conduct rehearsal. they have time before and after to take care of business. they know this. but this still does not explain where he was after going to the bathroom. it does not take 45 minutes to go to the bathroom. i went into the office to calm down and came back out to go supervise the rest of my students sitting in the cafeteria and overheard the mom call me "the stupid teacher". i really almost turned around and told her to say whatever it is she has to say to my face. i was hot! but i walked away and went and sat down and waited with the rest of my students to go home.

i wish i could have talked to him...i will on monday! oh boy will i on monday! he has violin lessons during lunch with me. its going to be good! sigh

im just glad the rest of the staff, including my principal, are on my side. she is crazy! she has had an issue with every staff member in the school. apparently, shes not even zoned for this school! she bullied her way in! i just have to get an even thicker skin i guess. she really got to me today. just...uuuggghh!! ya know?

alright...i gotta keep looking for apartments. later!
