Oh dear lord... in Ramblings of Some Random Girl You Don't Know.

Freshman welcome week, the bane of any university employee's existence is upon us. We have been flooded by undergrads, parents, and graduate students that look as though they either haven't slept in weeks or are so excited they may accidentally walk straight into a wall. Regardless our campus has been thrown into disarray rivaled only by small towns whose yearly festivals have suddenly blossomed out to mythic proportions. This is the one time that I am happy that I am a part-time employee because my weekend begins in less than an hour. I do not have to deal with the seniors tomorrow and their complaints about the behavior of young people, or the constant questions from people who cannot seem to find their ways back to their __ (dorm rooms, cafeteria, student union, fill in the blank with some random location of your choosing.)

This also means that we have been trying to explain how to use a library to a number of people who have apparently made it through a majority of their academic career without ever seeing the inside of a library; a feat that amazes me since I nearly lived in one.

Also, we have the usual ragtag gang of general public members managing to enter without registration; something which seems innocent enough until you realize that a number of them have been either watch-listed or banned for using our computers to view "inappropriate materials."
