It wasn’t that bad. The weather still sucks. Welcome to Washington. Pfft. I had a new motor install out in the sticks, which wasn’t too bad, until R tried to call me about an emergency, and I had to pull over to find my headset, and was right in the middle of a semi-dead zone. She added on another commercial call, which is something I don’t mind too much. I keep saying I want to get into more commercial work. This was a place I’d been to before, but it had been quite a while. I went through the normal troubleshooting, and it ended up being a failing low voltage transformer, and possibly a control board.

After that, I went to the scheduled commercial call. Didn’t realize was going to be working with another manufacturers product. I was installing exit detectors so they don’t have to use their remotes to get out of the garage. One was simple, one I had to look at the manual for. That and I had to drill into the concrete ceiling to anchor the mounting bracket for the detector. Got a good powdering of concrete dust. Thankfully, I carry a full arsenal of protective gear, so I pulled out my cartridge filter mask and goggles, plugged in my Buds, and fired up the rotary hammer drill. Makes short work of hardened concrete.

Ya know, I have to say, I never thought that my Samsung Buds, that I got as a package deal with my watch, have actually turned out to be a pretty good deal. I still prefer my Bose QuietComfort 35 headphones to really block out the noise of my power tools when working, mainly because they’re obvious to customers, and also because the noise cancellation is really good, but when I’m not dealing with people, or I just want to block out the road noise in the van, the Buds are pretty great. They’re my replacement for my LG 810 semi-wireless ear buds. But until I got the Buds for myself, I thought they were just a gimmick. Glad to be proven wrong.

When I got home, I immediately jumped in the shower to scrub off the day… and the concrete dust, put on some nice clothes, got in my truck and headed out to get groceries. The store was fairly quiet tonight, and I didn’t rush. My brain wasn’t on fire this time, which was also nice. That’s one thing I hate about Asperger’s - the social anxiety just sucks. I can’t do crowds, loud noises, change… it’s just ever so fun. Not. Skipped the self check and headed for a cashier. Only a few bags to load, then came home.

I like driving my truck. It’s a reminder to me that I have actually accomplished some of the things I’ve meant to. I have the truck I’ve wanted since I was 13, I own my home, albeit not the right home in not the right place, I’m working in the industry I’ve wanted to for a long time, I’m at least somewhat respected at work, I’m mostly respected by my customers, I’m not in a horrible spot financially even though it could use some improvement, I have a fair bit to be thankful for, despite the complaints I have.

Now I’m finally horizontal on the couch, with my wrist brace on, with StarTrek Enterprise streaming on NetFlix. Nice way to clear my head from the dream of BL last night that’s not left me alone all day, and the “distracting” picture S sent me. That’s another ball of wax. Anywho, since I can’t type well with this brace on, I’m done for the night.
