WARNING: Before you leave a comment about my "naughty language" or whatever the fuck, go back to the first entry and read it CAREFULLY.

So. We've found a relatively close planet that is capable of sustaining life. I read the article (http://www.theverge.com/2014/4/17/5625138/nasas-kepler-program-discovers-the-most-earth-like-planet-yet) and was quite astounded. This could mean big things for the human race. Okay, it's 500 light years away, but it's not totally out of the realms of possibility that we might, one day, get there and have a look.

Of course, it'll never happen in MY lifetime. I mean, it could, if the human race weren't such fucking screw-ups. Sadly, though, we're too busy overfeeding one half of the planet and starving the other, we're too hung up on blowing the fuck out of each other over passages in a two-thousand-year-old storybook, we'd rather spend our money on weapons than exploratory space travel, and we're so fucking stuck in the dark ages that in 2014 racism, sexism, homophobia and anti-Semitism are still running rampant. Think that's a bleak outlook? Well, that's because you're probably not living in a country where gay people are executed. You're not living in a country where your skin colour determines your station in life. You're probably not living in the other half of the world - the half where there isn't enough food to live on.

This planet is beautiful. The majority of life on this planet is peaceful and in perfect balance. Why we had to come along and fuck all that up is beyond me. So news of this new planet gives me some small hope, because even though it's highly unlikely that I'll ever step foot on another planet, we still may some day pull out heads out of our asses, stop fucking things up for ourselves, and explore other worlds. And I hope they're already populated by far more advanced beings than us.

Because the human race is collectively dumber than shit, and we definitely need to be taught how to exist without fucking destroying everything around us.
