Decluttering files in At the foot of the hill

I might as well put these long boring days to good use. I started the enormous task of cleaning up my office. I am going thru files, opening folders and rearranging what has for years has been haphazardly stuffed into this one or that for sorting “someday”. Looking at each piece of paper, I smile. Or cry. Or am shocked. Newspaper clippings naming somebody dear getting recognition. Drawings by toddling grand babies who are all adulting now. Programs from their special days. Obituaries; so many. Certificates and tributes. Special letters. The list goes on and on.
Unfortunately, this feels to me like my life is “passing before my eyes” and not helping the sadness in my heart.

I did a lot of crying when I did that.
