Bags and Satchels in keeping it postive

Like the Mad Hatter's tea party in Alice in Wonderland (where they changed place settings when one got "dirty"), I change from handbag to handbag when one gets filled with napkins, candies, tissues, papers, etc.
I decided (while searching for an important paper I still did NOT find), to review all the bags in the hallway. MANY, many bags. I threw out many napkins, papers, receipts, stubs, etc.
I found many candies (sugar free, great for coughing spells), some papers I could've used years ago (tax receipts for donations), my pill box, my pencil case with various pens, etc in it, MANY odds and ends. I found a book someone requested, so was able to pack it up to be sent out.
Now I have to decide... one bag is mostly destroyed, so it just gets junked. Do I keep the others, donate them (some)? It was a good project for keeping my hands busy while listening to the Sunday morning show on CBS.

I used to buy cheap bags from Walmart and would end up with 10 or 15 in my closet as they wore out. One thing about dropping 100-200$ on a purse is YOU DON'T DO IT OFTEN! I'm kind of over that now and need the same thing it sounds like you need...just something that's organized...

I like to match my bag with my outfit. It doesn't matter much if I am just in the neighborhood, but if I am at work...
Then, also since there is so much down time at work, I like to have many things in my bag - pencils, crossword puzzle books, regular books, magazines, etc. Oh, and snacks - otherwise I put so MUCH money into the vending machine.
I only have one expensive purse - I think I spent $10 for it, but was told it's worth about $300 - it's handpainted leather.

Three cheers for organization!

I've seen handbag organisers for sale. They're inserts for bags with pockets etc... they can be transferred from bag to bag and can sorted out easily.
Personally I rarely use a bag, I always end up leaving then somewhere! I put a bit of money in one pocket, my door key in another and I'm good to go! Of course, I don't have a job that requires a lot of waiting and I totally understand your need for carrying books around.

My bags are different shapes and sizes. For the past two days, I've been wearing shades of brown, so taking a brown/black bag. Today, if I go to work, I am wearing shades of blue, so will take the blue/black bag. (So matchy-matchy.) I often figure on shopping in one way or another, so take a tote of sorts. Then there are the magazines, books, pens, pencils, wallet, ID cards, credit cards, transit card... on and on.
