In the movie Back to the Future, Marty McFly is filling in for the guitar player at his mom and dad’s school dance. He’s playing Earth Angel while his parents are dancing. All he needs is for his dad to kiss his mom, but his dad is being a little bitch so meanwhile the Polaroid of Marty and his siblings that he brought with him from 1985 is starting to fade.

Marty is starting to disappear from existence.

Without that kiss his parents never fall in love and have children; ergo, Marty is erased from existence. In typical movie fashion, Marty’s dad goes for the kiss just in time and Marty is brought back to 100% life instantly. That’s kind of how I feel now that I’m able to go back to the gym again.

I don’t know why I prefer exercising at the gym over all other modes of exercise. It just hits different.

It might be because I like to push myself as far as I can when I exercise. At the gym you can do that safely. You can lift weights until your muscles can’t take anymore and then just let go of them and be safe. You can run as hard as you want for 40 minutes straight and just stop and drive home. That type of workout in the real world could get you hurt or stranded.

I finished the book this week: What doesn’t kill you by Scott Carney. I don’t know why, but I’m eager to read new my book The Unabomber Manifesto by Ted Kaczyncski (the Unabomber). I bought the physical copy of it. It’s only 100 pages long.

It’s so beautiful outside this morning and I feel so good.

I feel like Marty also. Over nothing. I need to work out my nerve first. I'm too self-conscious to go to a gym. I want to get into callisthenics so I'll need... help lol

What do you mean self-conscious about the gym? Because people will be judging you while you’re there?

yup

I felt the same way at first. I started by going in an just using the cardio machines and watching other people do the weights and the machines to try and figure out what I should do. If you can just force yourself outside of your comfort zone one time you start to notice that literally no one cares what you’re doing. After the first few times of going all that anxiety will disappear and you will feel proud of yourself. You can also pay for a couple training sessions and the trainer can help set you up with a routine to start off with.

I know you're right and that's the plan once the world returns to normal
