Dogs in recovery in 2020

Two of our four weren’t spayed, so we remedied that last week. They had the surgery on Friday, I questioned the wisdom of doing them at the same time but it needed done and we figured we might as well just get it over with.

The surgeries went fine, they were dopey (puppy) and pouty (Bailey) on the way home. I replaced their plastic e-collars with inflatable ones I got on Amazon and they look ridiculous - but it’s better than the lampshades! Plus they can eat, drink, and navigate the dog door with the inflatable collars. Bonus that I don’t have bruises on my calves from them weaponizing their collars!

Now we just have to try to keep them quiet for (ideally) two weeks. Bailey is a pretty low-key dog anyway, though she’s furious that we’re making her sleep in a crate when she usually sleeps with one of the kids, but the puppy (Phaser) is a ball of crazy. Also our boxer (Layla) mothers the puppy really hard, so it’s been a struggle to keep her from grooming the incision. So far, so good - they seem to be healing well.

Hopefully we can maintain this trajectory!

Omg I had no idea inflatable collars were a thing. My Bailey could’ve Definitely used one of those, poor Floof. Glad your babies are recovering!

wow, 2 at the same time, I can't even imagine. That was probably expensive AF too.

We got a discount voucher from the Humane Society that helped a bit, but yeah.
