This will be a random post of what is going through my mind. Hang on it may get interesting!
I have no idea what it is with this place but things just don't happen like they do back home. For instance:
The only "yarn" shops appear to be either Michael's or Joann's. All others have either closed or are little teeny stores that offer not much in the way of anything! You would think with all the grannies down here that there would be more DECENT yarn stores.
Pharmacies will bring your prescriptions to you while your IN the hospital! Why? Because its cheaper to get your 'normal' refill than to have the hospital charge you for the same drug. Wild!
Beer bottles. There is no 'Beer Store' to bring them to so you can get your refund. You simply just toss them in the trash or recycle them.
You can get any kind of alcohol you want at ANY corner or grocery store. AND it's cheap as all hell. Why are there not more alcoholics here?!
You can shove mail into your mailbox (that is at the end of your driveway!!) and the postal ninja's (because I never see them go by) will collect it and send it off for you.
There are more .. I'll have to post these oddities when I come across them because I forget them before I have a chance to tell you of them.
Tomorrow we're going to the Strawberry festival. I've never been. In fact most of his family has never been. I've been told to bring my stomach as it's sort of like a state fair. I'm excited. I hope it's got crafty stuff there and of course strawberries! I'm not so sure on the excess of peoples but I'll have my cell phone if we get separated. All will be fine!
The other day (Thursday) was the first day in a VERY VERY long time that I should have reached for my bottle of Xanax and took some. There I was.. typing away on the keyboard (probably surfing my guilty pleasure of Pintrest) when my phone started making that screeching noise that you only see on the tv's back home from the 'emergency broadcasting system'. You know the ones.... it says "had this been an actual event instructions would follow from your local authorities" Well there I was.. holding this screeching phone as it txts "There is a tornado in your area. Seek IMMEDIATE cover." To tell you all that I nearly had a heart attack is an understatement. You see.... I live in a place where NO ONE has basements due to the water table being so high. We also have no dug storm shelters. I also know NONE of my neighbors. Well in a few terrified moments I grabbed my passport, tablet, cell phone, photo of my children, and my dog (all the things that I hold sacred in 10 seconds time) and we went to sit in an interior closet and sat there listening to the pouring rain. Sure nothing happened - I sat there for 45 min. But I will tell you the entire time I was terrified! After this I shook for most of the day. I barely calmed down by the time bedtime arrived. What I did do is find a little box and that is now my "Tornado box" for quick grabbing. I also cleaned out that closet a bit and made it more comfortable for the dog and I. My sweetie and his family all say "pffttt we get those all the time" but when you see an alert like that.. you kinda panic... a lot!
Today we got my wedding rings. Well - we ordered them. Sure there is no magic in it. I know EXACTLY what I'm getting (and their so beautiful) Compared to the last set I received .. this feeling is totally different. I can remember with Peckerhead it was "If I don't say yes he's gonna be so mad and be nasty (beat) me." This time it's more like "SQQQQUUUEEEEE finally! I wish my Thing 2 was here...:(" They will be here and ready by Friday! I don't know if he's got anything planned from Friday night to Monday morning for an "engagement" but it would be nice if he did. It would make this just a little more special.
Today I also bought a dress that I will wear. I said many times that I wanted my Thing 2 with me. I even got teary eyed shopping for it as it's the first shopping for clothing trip that I've taken without her. She is my personal shopper - seriously - everyone should have one of these!! She makes sure i don't dress myself like a grandma!! But this one.. i think I did good all on my own. (After she's done work she will skype me and I can show her and get the verdict) I think it's so pretty with just a hint of green in it. In fact I didn't notice the green until AFTER I was out of the change room. I think that it's PERFECT for the day! I got it for a steal as well. I wanted to go to a discount place (kind of like Winners) and within there I found this dress that was perfect but for the broken METAL zipper. Well I had them take an additional 30% off the already terribly knocked down price! I was also able to fix said broken zipper within 15 min of getting back home! :D It's not terribly fancy.. but it's not plain either. For the occasion... it's just about perfect!
I want to order Zombies, Run! app for my phone and start running. My daughter in law wishes to do the 5K foam run with me. (http://5kfoamfest.com/) The fact that she asked her future mother-in-law to run with her is an amazing feeling! Currently I don't run - even if zombies are after me. I also don't like getting all nasty dirty. But for her - I'll do both! I'd like to have a chance at not dying during this event. I figure with this app I can learn to run at least more than what I currently do. Besides I'm only 1 mile from the beach... if I can run there and back I will be in good shape. If I can run there.. down the beach.. and back I'll be so happy! There is NOTHING like walking/running on the beach. NOTHING!
All my documentation is on its way to me. I'm so happy! Soon I will have all that I need for school and much much more! Weeeeee
Well - I think my head is free of all the stuff for now. Next week is going to be crazy but in a totally good way!
