She is waiting for her train to come!

Nope, that was Divine Comedy.

Technically, it's neither freezing; monday; or indeed morning. It's actually a fairly balmy tuesday afternoon and I write this sat in my training room, staring out the window as spring finally seems to descend. I feel like I've been waiting far too long for this. It's not a new sensation, I get bored of winter around mid January and then it's the long haul through until the weather starts to perk up. It's taken a while to get going this year but it finally seems to have some traction.

So, what's up in my life you ask? Well, you didn't but why else would you be reading this entry?

Things are ok. The job progresses on. It's pretty weird at the moment because I'm really busy but everyone tells me the department is dead. Perks of being a trainer. I've also found a progression into a Training admin role for the company which I'm going to apply for. So it'll be good if I get it. Sadly it'll mean less actual training, which is a shame as it's my favourite part of the job. On the other hand it should pay a lot more and I do love me "tehz monies".

In my personal life things appear to have stalled. Haven't heard back from Katie in a while. I get that she's busy and I'm not going to press the matter. If she gets back in contact, fantastic! If not, I'm going to keep trying to find someone. It's weird, I used to be very good at this. Feels a lot more difficult these days. Still, anything worth having is worth working for.

Went out over the weekend to the Hexham Market. I love Hexham, it's a fantastic town if you like pretty architecture and coffee. I love both of these things. In addition I managed to find a copy of one of my favourite original Xbox games "Hunter: The Reckoning". Unfortunately this game is not backwards compatible from the 360 and I don't have my original Xbox any more but it really doesn't matter. I more bought it for the nostalgia purposes. It was an excellent game for the time with a really interesting plot which happened to tie into the "World of Darkness" setting by White Wolf publishing.

Gaming wise, I've recently been playing "South Park: The Stick of Truth" and "Goat Simulator". Both of which I can heartily recommend.

Southpark plays like a turn based RPG game. You play the new kid in the South Park Elementary school, given the strange and unknowable power of making friends really quickly on Facebook. You must uncover the mysteries surrounding the town whilst levelling up in your chosen class; Wizard; Thief; Fighter or Jew.

It's everything you'd expect from the South Park setting but the joy of it comes from how beautifully they tie the game mechanics to these jokes. The turn based combat is simply explained away by Cartmen at the beginning of the game as being "That's how they did it in olden times".

I won't lie, it's rude and in the usual South Park ways. If you didn't enjoy the show you wouldn't be able to get past this to enjoy the game. If you enjoyed the show, though, this is definitely the best outing to come from it into the world of computer games. Check it out.

Goat Simulator is a little more bizarre and, given that I'm comparing it to a game where you have the power to teleport around using an anal probe, that's saying something. You play a goat. You must wreak destruction on a sandbox style area to accumulate points. There's no plot; you're a goat. It's hilarious!

The main reason for the joy in this game is that's it's buggy as all god hell and the developers flat out refuse to remove the bugs. So when you get stuck in a wall or rag doll off an exploding trampoline that's all meant to be part of the fun. It works, it really does. There aren't words to explain the giggle fits you can get into when you find yourself floating and doing back flips in an anti-gravity chamber whilst your goat is stuck to some poor hapless citizen you clipped into 10 minutes ago and haven't managed to disentangle yourself from yet. The best advice I can give about this game is to go watch a youtube video of someone else playing it. If you end up in hysterics that's a similar effect to actually playing it. Apparently there's multiplayer now for it. I have not tested it yet but I can imagine that this will make it even more amusing. In short, this game is a total waste of time but if you have the time to waste it's worth it just for the humour.

Anyhow, gotta sign off for now. Hope you're all well. You know the words.
