My husband and I started trying to conceive baby #2 in November 2013. Yesterday, May 25, 2014, I got a positive pregnancy test! I was starting to wonder what was taking so long since we conceived our first baby, Carrie, in the first month.
Unfortunately, I don't have a romantic story on how I told my hubby. My period was due yesterday and for the past couple of days, I had been having this strange feeling that I was pregnant. About two weeks ago, my breasts were very tender like they were when I was pregnant the first time but I found it strange that it was happening so early. I chalked it up to being in my head because I really wanted to be pregnant. Yesterday morning when Carrie and I were out running errands, I picked up three pregnancy tests at the Dollar Tree to confirm my strange feelings. After putting her down for a nap, I took a test and saw a faint positive. Well, it wasn't real faint, but wasn't dark either. My husband was in the living room relaxing (I didn't tell him I was testing), so I took the test to him to ask him if I was crazy or did I really see two lines. Since it was light, he told me I should test again in a week! He said it was positive when there are two solid lines. I was so frustrated because I thought everyone knew that he even the faintest line meant you were pregnant. After explaining that to him, it got slightly darker. I don't think he quite believed me still, but he said Congratulations anyway. I took another one this morning at 6:00 because I couldn't sleep. It is definitely still positive, but is slightly lighter. That could be due to many things as I have read and the hormone levels increase every 2 days so I think I will take my last one in two days.
Based on the day of my last period, I believe my due date is February 1st. This baby and Carrie will be 3 years and 8 months apart. Carrie is going to be such a great helper. She really loves babies and the thought of the two of them together melts my heart!
We haven't told anyone yet. At 10 today, we are going to Brittany and Adam's for Dale to do a newborn photoshoot for their baby who is 10 days old. I am going to tell them I'm pregnant by showing them a a picture of Carrie holding the test. They told us right away so it only makes sense. We will probably tell our parents in a couple of weeks after it has been confirmed and announce it on FB in a couple of months.
