For everything there is a season and a time for every [a]purpose under heaven: And today is one of those let’s lighten up. With all the political upheaval of which I am already sick of, I thought I would put it aside and relax. (Note to self, do not watch the news!)
A season for everything? Then I must be in the late fall or winter season of my life. Truth is I may be hours or minutes away from my number coming up. The hairs on my head a numbered by God and the past couple of years they have thinned out way to thin.
The key to a happy life? Most likely it is different for each of us. For me? Finding the good in everything and making someone laugh. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.
And with that, I leave you with this little gem.
A minister died and went to heaven and ahead of him at the Pearly Gate was a guy in sunglasses and a leather jacket and the guy said to St. Peter. “I’m Joe Nestorenko, cabdriver of Las Vegas.” Saint Peter gave him a golden robe and golden staff and then it was the minister’s turn. “I am Elmer Lundberg, pastor of Zion Lutheran for forty five years.” Saint Peter gave him a cotton robe and wooden staff.” “But that man was a taxi driver? and he gets a golden robe? and golden staff?” And St. Peter said, “Up here, we go by results. While you preached, people slept; while he drove, people prayed.”
Have the best day of your life!

I've had a few memorable rides - limo bus on the New Jersey turnpike late but on time to the Newark airport, white sedan full of kids on a gravel road hearing the gravel hitting the bottom of the car, some of my own driving escapades.
Sleeping in church? I remember boredom - trying to decide how many stories high the church was, waiting for the choir to come down for communion so I could see the girls clothes. Peaks of life huh?
