The weeks since Thanksgiving have gone by quickly. Kayla and Timmy have finished their college applications. Now we are waiting on acceptances and financial packages. They applied to a fair number of safety schools, where they are reasonably certain they will get in.

The high school winter concert was a week ago. Aaron played his saxophone and the twins sang with the chorus. Aaron has been doing well with his sax. Sometimes he even practices without me reminding him. I played violin in elementary school and sax in middle and high school. I don’t think I ever practiced without being told to.

We are just about done with holiday shopping. With high school age kids, they want things that really aren’t Christmas presents. Timmy and Kayla have senior expenses coming up in the next few months. They also have a car. Aaron has the ninth grade spring trip coming up. This is the first year that he has his own cell phone.

We got our Christmas tree and decorated it. This year we put lots of ornaments and lights in the tree. We put tinsel around the bottom of the tree and on the wall next to the tree.

It seems like most of the holiday rush is over. I am sitting here watching the Sound of Music. We are going to have a ham for dinner in Christmas Eve. For dinner on Christmas, we are going to my husband’s parents. For New Years’ Eve, my husband and I are going to a local restaurant. They are having a band and snacks. It is hard to believe that next year at this time the twins will be home from college.
