Everyday boring life in Another Open Diary refugee

Nothing exciting to write about today... life is continuing. The oven is fixed and I baked a batch of (packet) cookies to test it. The bottom tray burned so I need to swap them round halfway through cooking. Going to the lenten study at the new church tonight. They're having a potluck and I cheated and bought two boxes of fancy bakery cookies at Publix - they were on sale so if you bought one box you got the other free... next week I'll have to bake from scratch but I'll also have more idea how many people I'm cooking for. The volunteer in the office was totally unhelpful when I asked if she had any idea how big the group was. Ugh. That's the problem with running a church office on volunteer staff instead of having one person in charge.

Can't remember if I wrote about the weekend or not. I walked to church on Sunday. It's easy to get to and the weather was lovely... everyone sitting around me commented on my 'lovely voice' and asked if I was going to join the choir. I'll think about it - there were only 11 in the choir Sunday so they could obviously use the help. The choir doesn't sing at the 8am service, only the 10am, and it doesn't seem to be very demanding. No elaborate descants or fancy showpieces, but with a choir that small you can't really do them. I can't sing descants any more anyway - I'm fine with the hymns as written, they're deliberately made to be easy to sing, but I've lost the top part of my range. Actually to be honest I never really HAD those top notes to begin with - I just pretended! Which is why I hate descants... lol The worst part of choir would be submitting myself to yet another ugly (HOT) choir robe every Sunday.
