The best that you can hope for it to die in your sleep. God told Moses to go up on the Nebo and there he would die. Moses had a lot more faith that I have. Honestly, I would have taken several years to climb that mountain. Something about death unnerves me. I have a hard time conducting funeral services.
I am human. Perhaps I am more human than most. I think of myself as a realist. And I know that someday for whom the bell tolls will be me. Death seems so final and cold. That is how we humans view it for the most part. And death is no respecter of person.
This is my own feelings, they have little to do with my religious upbringing. I know what the Bible says, I have read it through from cover to cover 12 times. But it doesn’t comfort me and yet I am called upon each week to encourage the flock God has entrusted me with to have faith in God and His word. And therein lies the problem, somedays my faith is weak, but I try to convince others that it will all be alright. Truth is, it won’t be. Death is going to win. We just don’t know when or how.
